From (Self-) Measurement to Personal bespoke Last
When you commission a pair of bespoke shoes, everything starts with your foot measurements and personal lasts. But different from an in person commission, our remote program is specifically developed to utilize measurements that you can easily take yourself from the comfort of your own home. This has multiple benefits, the most obvious being, that this service allows customers from anywhere in the world the luxury of having handmade bespoke shoes made and delivered to their door step without extensive (or any) travel.
Modern technology paired with experience and handwork
Furthermore, the last making itself is quite innovative and different from what one would expect from traditional last making. With our experience, we are able take the measurements and tracings you submit to us and transfer them into measurements, which we will use to create your personal lasts. We then digitally build 3D lasts for each foot and have them milled with a CNC machine. The rough lasts, which now follow your foot proportions, are then further modified to closely follow your foots outline and shape, while stilling having elegant proportions.
Trial Shoes for the (close to) perfect fit
Certainly, this process gives some leverage for error. This is why we have recently made some changes to the structure of our remote bespoke program, which now makes ordering a pair of fitting/ trial shoes mandatory for any first commission. These test shoes are made from scrap materials with a cemented construction and are made on your newly made personal lasts to be sent directly to you from our workshop to save time. With these and your own help and commentary we are now able to assess and try the fit, before making your final pair. If necessary, we can now further modify your lasts and remove or add material wherever necessary, to get as close as possible to a perfect fit for you. With the lasts dialed in, we now just need to make your handwelted shoes as specified and any consecutive pair can simply be order on the same last, knowing, that the shoes will fit perfectly like the last.
